In the episode "Dogmas of Science Part 2: Gene-centered Inheritance or Sheldrake's Morphic Resonance? (S2, E16)" I share Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) that are analyzing genomes of the bipolars and the "genetically depressed." I ask the question, where is this science taking us if one doesn't subscribe to the materialist worldview? This research only supports the theory that the mind is inside the brain. Their evolutionary material transference through genes does not reflect our larger reality or our free will, and only believes in predetermination.
Scientist Rupert Sheldrake in his book The Science Delusion, presents an argument of how inheritance is transferred in another way beyond that of just genes. His hypothesis of morphic resonance proposes that nature forms habits that evolve, and since this is not material and instead non-local, this allows for another type of inheritance. If we look beyond that of the materialist worldview, remembering concepts in quantum theory, many other theories are possible.
